Dance has been a part of Alaina’s journey since she was a young girl. Movement has been an integral piece in her understanding of the self and her continuous healing. At the age of 7, Alaina began her movement journey with traditional Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) at Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani Mālie based in Antioch, California. There she began her learning with Hula ‘Auana and Hula Kahiko and gained a deep appreciation for the ways she has been able to connect to her Oceanic relatives of Polynesia, as someone who is Micronesian. Alaina has continued her understandings of mind, body, spirit, sound and movement through learning various disciplines attached to her ethnic identities. She has learned a variety of different styles within the worlds of movement, such as: Hip hop, Mexican Folklórico and of course memorable moments in the kitchen dancing salsa with her Papi.

Alongside dance, Alaina has been a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where she began her movement journey at the age of 13. She proceeded to integrate her love for martial arts into the world of wrestling, where she was a part of the first female wrestling team at her high school. Alaina believes that with courage, strength and a lot of love you can break down any barrier.
